Word-for-Word Translation Without Understanding Context: Semantic Errors in Arabic Language Learning in the Digital Era

This study aims to analyze students' habits in translating Arabic texts word for word without understanding the context of sentences, as well as its impact on semantic errors in learning Arabic in the digital era. The research uses a qualitative approach with analytical descriptive methods and case study design on students of the Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Ibrahimy Islamic University, Banyuwangi. The results showed that the majority of students tend to rely on digital translator applications, resulting in semantic errors in the meaning of words, the relationships between words, the cultural context, and the overall meaning of the text. Therefore, it is recommended to learn translation that is more contextual, active, reflective, accompanied by text analysis exercises, lecturer mentoring, and critical use of technology so that the translator application functions as an aid, not a substitute for the student's thinking process
