Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Al-Hakam: Journal of Islamic Law (JIL) are screened using plagiarism detection software (such as Turnitin) before entering the peer review process. Manuscripts containing significant similarity with previously published works will be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.

Similarity Index Standards

Al-Hakam applies strict thresholds regarding similarity index scores:

Below 20% Acceptable

Manuscript meets the similarity standard and is eligible to proceed to the peer review stage.

Above 20% Revision / Rejection

Subject to mandatory revision or immediate rejection, depending on the nature and extent of overlap.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct: Any form of plagiarism—including self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and unauthorized use of others' work—constitutes a serious violation of publication ethics and will result in immediate disqualification.
